TEXT, TEXTILE & TIME

Day & Age is a design and lifestyle brand that works at the intersection of text, textile and time. We make clothes that are a bit slower and a bit more thoughtful, stitching what came before with what is yet to come. Started in 2023 by Shreya Parasrampuria and Sharan Adka, both graduates of the National Institute of Design - Ahmedabad, Day & Age was born from a culmination of discussions around the intertwined histories of textiles and communication.

At all times, we have two kinds of collections showcased parallelly: one that looks at the past and one at the present — the Bygones Collection and the Currents Collection.

TIME AS A LENS

The Bygones Collection showcases garments that are one-of-ones made from vintage and found fabrics. These are imbued with a character that can only be found in passage of time. Through Bygones, we relook at these age old fabrics from today’s point-of-view and see how they can be reinterpreted.

On the other hand, the Current collection follows a made-to-order approach for designs stitched around a central theme relevant to the time. We produce both these collections with the help of a small group of tailors and artisans in Jaipur, India.

While we look at ways how we can explore fashion as a medium to tell stories of text and textile, we also question how material histories can inform future communications. Owing to the handmade nature of our products, there are subtle differences in each round of production. We acknowledge these as part and parcel of a slower way of living.
