TEXT, TEXTILE & TIME

Day & Age is a collaboration between the twin spheres of graphic and textile design. We make products that are a bit slower and a bit more thoughtful, stitched around a central theme that is relevant to the time. Day & Age was started in 2023 by Shreya Parasrampuria and Sharan Adka, two design graduates from NID Ahmedabad as an art project.

In our first passage, we explore adulthood and the idea of growing up in this day and age.

A Made-to-Order Approach

To reduce wastage and to promote a slower route to clothing consumption, we follow a made-to-order approach for our garments. Furthermore, garments in our Bygone Collection are one-offs as they are made from found fabrics. We produce both these collections in India with the help of a small group of tailors and artisans.

Conceptually, we aim to have a mixed-media approach to everything we do—playing with materials and designs and not always thinking about scalability. Our intervention comes from a place of knowing the harmful effects of this industry. Hence to balance environment and economics, we produce less designs, fewer times in a year, repurpose as much as possible, make only to order and ensure fair wages to the people making the clothes.

Owing to the handmade nature of our products, there may be subtle differences in each round of production. We acknowledge these as part and parcel of a slower way of living.
